Bilbo's Garden

Oh, how I loved this. I have posted before in defence of gardening, that it is not some naive pastime of small or narrow-minded folks. And here is an article to round out my recent sojourn through Lord of the Rings, called Bilbo's Garden. These are my people. And I give you Bilbo in his dressing gown with his flowers.

Bilbo’s garden offers a glimpse into the world as it once was, and as it might be again—a reminder of the ordinary things the hobbits set out to save, and of the homely things they are ultimately saved unto, in all their potential nearness and glory.
