Every moment holy
So early September was a little bit crazy, with our Diocesan Synod all one weekend, followed by Canberra Women’s Christian Convention, for which I am on the organising committee, the next. Thus, partly, the silence (I was going to say the creativity dried up, but in the middle of it all I actully took to writing a poem).
Synod was relatively uneventful, and women’s convention was fabulous. Our topic was Revive – New Heart, New Life, New Spirit, centred around talks from Ezekiel 36 and 37, which were excellent. So that was a really good day, once I actually made it to the day!
As an added bonus, at women’s convention our bookseller turned up with a book for sale and I could hardly believe my eyes, because I have looked at it off and on at The Rabbit Room in the US, but the postage cost was unjustifiable. So, it was something of a splurge, but I bought Every Moment Holy. It’s a really beautiful book of modern liturgy. I don’t have any problem with liturgy (and the prayer book has salvaged many a bad sermon in my experience of it, and contains some truly beautiful prayers), so I love this. It’s a book that poetically ‘reminds us that there are no unsacred moments; there are only sacred moments and moments we have forgotten are sacred’ from this nice review.
It's a public holiday here today, and so how should I live today? Like this:
