It gave reassurance
I was going to post this quote, which I copied out from the last Elizabeth Goudge book I read during that week, last weekend, but then Christchurch happened and I wondered if it might seem trite, and I didn't get around to thinking that through. It's funny how when an incident like that happens, you can feel like anything you say might be taken as an interpretation on it. I actually put a facebook post up during the week, which had nothing to do with Christchurch whatsoever, but then took it down lest folks think I was making some kind of point, which I absolutely wasn't.
All that aside, this blog largely carries on in isolation of world or political events, which is how I like it to be, so here is the Elizabeth Goudge quote:
There was goodness here, in scent and sound and splendour of light, and if it gave no explanation of man’s tragedy it gave reassurance.
~Elizabeth Goudge, The Scent of Water
