Mary-janes for Violet
This weekend I made Mary-janes for my niece Violet. (I have such a long list of crochet projects to make right now. Nieces! I love making sweet things for them, but I think I would do well to teach my sisters how to do this ... My younger sister in particular is always sending me photos of things I could make. :) ...) These are such cute little creations. I've always been rather taken with tiny baby shoes.

The pattern is from a shop called The Lovely Crow on Etsy. (The shop lady generously says you can make and sell as many as you like too. I don't buy patterns if they say "you are forbidden to sell the finished product" or some such thing. Not that I necessarily want to sell everything. I just appreciate the option.) After the first one I thought these were perhaps unnecessarily complicated little pieces of work, but it was less complicated on the second go and they have a nice sculptured finish to them. See the cute little shaped sole? You are meant to use a slightly thicker yarn too, which would make them more rigid.

And I do like stripey buttons.
