I acquired a cat last year from a friend at DFAT who got posted overseas. They said 'oh you've been alone for 9 years why don't you have my cat' so I reluctantly said yes. However it wasn't long before I bonded with it and started walking around my apartment talking to it. I also find myself just staring and watching her and amazed at her and how God could make such interesting creatures. How intricately she is amazed and what great senses she has. I remember reading about monasteries having cats not only to keep the mice away but a cat's presence and character was supposed to help monks draw close to God. The British Navy and merchant ships also had cats on ships for mice but their sixth-sense also assisted with sensing storms or unseen danger on the seas and it was even written in law that a ship must always have a cat on-board.

Thanks Pete. It seems there is something about cats that at least keeps people musing on them and their presence and what it could mean and what they could have to teach or show us ...
