The thin veil between
I have started to read, in snatches of time for pure pleasure, The Story Girl by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I didn't actually read this one when I was young, which the author called her favourite of her books.
In the foreword I read this quote from LM Montgomery, which I think needs a place here. She was a kindred spirit. I have a friend who talks of 'thin places', where heaven breaks into our ordinary world more than in others:
'It has always seems to me, ever since early childhood, amid all the commonplaces of life, I was very near to a kingdom of ideal beauty. Between it and me hung only a thin veil. I could never draw it quite aside, but sometimes a wind fluttered it and I caught a glimpse of the enchanting realm beyond--only a glimpse--but those glimpses have always made life worthwhile.'
