Why beauty matters
In my Philosophy Club we looked at philosopher Roger Scruton's work on beauty at our last meeting in November. Some of you will know that Roger Scruton sadly died this week. His BBC documentary on Beauty has since been brought to my attention, and I liked it a lot. Oh my, how beauty matters.
I can see why it was considered controversial, but I am unashamed to admit that I concur with his views particularly on modern art - an idea is not art. I'm afraid I don't think anything is art because somebody said it is. And how I love gloriously useless beautiful things. Watch for yourselves.
